about
Initially recorded by Corey, along with Rob Wrong at Wrong Way Recording, gave a copy to Billy Anderson, he laid bass on the track, flash forward to a year later, Ian Caton from the Doom drum/bass duo laid drums down on the track. Rob Wrong laid down lead. The song itself is about the Goddess Bastet coming down to help the Egyptians build the pyramids, and the battle between the Reptile people, and the Feline people. It's doom-drone-stone-grunge worship.
lyrics
V1
In the days of the Lion’s Head
Mankind did live in fear, ol’ friend fear
Heaven’s gate did spit in two opened wide, say aww
Letting the felines in, let them in, all in
Half Man, Half Cat Ruler Overlord, Ruler Overlords
Chorus
In the day’s of the Lion’s Head
Mankind did live in fear
In the day’s of the Lion’s Head
Mankind did worship Bastet, Bastet
V2
In the days of the Lion’s head
Bastet descent from Planet Catar, My God
Built the Pyramids, built ‘em up, Venus inside Saturn aligned
Dug for Gold, Bred Mankind, oh mankind
Helped to unfold! Evolved! Survived!
Still here, to take back, what is right, their rights
Chorus
In the days of the Lion’s Head
Mankind did live in fear
In the day’s of the Lion’s Head
Mankind did worship Bastet
(Solo)
V3
The days of the Lion’s head
They have returned again and again, again
Felines will take down the Reptile people, shatter the steeple
Uncoil the strings of the Robot Army, Robot Zombies
All will parish, Bastet’s return, the holy return
Chorus
In the day’s of the Lion’s Head
Mankind did live in fear
In the day’s of the Lion’s Head
Mankind did worship Bastet
Bridge / Solo
V4
Today in the Lion’s den
Half man, half cat saviors of humanity, saviors of humanity
She returned, set the captives free, free
Liberated those humans in need, good deeds
She enlightened those who’s spirits diseased, displeased
Chorus

I dig the bluesy riffs and the husky vocals. Reminds me of the golden age of classic rock, evoking the likes of Aerosmith, Guns n Roses, The Doors, and Led Zeppelin. The lyrics are vivid depictions of the surreal New Mexican landscape. This album just gets heavier and harder as it goes on! undeadgoathead
Forget the Wild West. With more swagger than John Wayne and more badassery than a handful of Clint Eastwood’s, this is the West where scorpions have six stingers and snakes don’t rattle, they fuckin shake. An epic tectonic plate of lung filling, gritty determination that will bleed your emotions dry in its arid wind. Justin@BlindMouse
The surprisingly comical new video from roaring metal group Red Fang is a tip of the hat to the original “Predator.” Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 12, 2016
Combining crooned murder ballads with raw, angsty hard rock hooks, Melbourne's The Ugly Kings are a wrecking crew well worth watching. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 15, 2021
frigging awesome. suggested by Bandcamp from Elder and Lord Buffalo, and I'm happy I got to support them by buying their CD and earlier digital albums as well. great vocals great riffs. Stoner Rock that hits the spot just right. CheeAfterDark
